Mimicat was introduced to the world in 2014, with her first studio album “For You”, but she’s been in recording studios since she was 9 years old.
Performer, singer and song-writer, Mimicat is inspired by the greatest voices in black music, such as Ella Fitzgeral, Nina Simone and Etta James, as much as all the pop hits playing on the radio and Mtv when growing up. She has become a combination of a deep soulful voice with catchy melodies, expressed by a sassy-badass stage charisma.
“For you”, released in 2014 by Sony Music, gave us a taste of Mimicat's potential. It is a raw and genuine album packed with emotional songs and heartfelted stories. Her first single "Tell me Why”, hit the radio stations in and out of Portugal followed by “Savior” which connected Mimicat to the United States and Asian music scene.
In 2015, Mimicat played in some of the most important festivals and venues in Portugal and Brazil, being embraced by the Brazilian press. 2016 would start with the release of a new single, “ Stay Strong”. A heart felted ballad revealing a change in Mimicat’s music and sound, which paved the way to “Gave me Love”, establishing Mimicat as a Pop artist.
Versatile and creative in the most fascinating way , she made a statement with her latest single “ Fire”. Released in January 16th, 2017, bound to be a revealing song..
Today we find a much more confident woman merging with the artist. 2016 was a revelation year for Mimicat and 2017 is going to bring us a strong hearted and soulful pop record in which we get to see her even more clearly. “BACK IN TOWN”, her next album , to be released in September 29th , will be a delight for those who love music that comes from the right place.
